yesterday, eric had the day off from work but adam still went to "school." for one reason, it frees up some time for eric to get things done and enjoy some alone time. and for another reason, it keeps adam's life on some semblance of a schedule. plus, i love his school! he learns so much there... or at least it seems so.
so, yesterday morning, eric and adam dropped me off at work before heading to adam's school. eric drives me in on days he can so i can avoid the $11/day parking fee at work! when they picked me up in the evening, eric told me that at school the teachers had been working with adam (and all the little babies in his class- 4 btwn 3 and 6 mos old) on sitting! sitting! you mean this blob-person i brought home just three short months ago, who could barely lift his giant cheeks, was attempting to sit?
i didn't believe it.
but we went home so he could show me what he'd learned and sure enough... he's getting it! not perfect, of course. he still rolls off his tush. but if he isn't paying attention he actually does sit, leaning forward slightly, for a little bit. weird!
i will have to post some video as soon as possible.
i skimmed over a baby book while adam was practicing sitting and read that we're about to enter a blissful time of baby-ness, when the baby cries less, is content to play on his own, interested in almost everything, very social, and is still not mobile. it made me think of months 4-7 of pregnancy when i felt awesome... anyhow, i can definitely sense that we're heading toward this mysterious happy land. over christmas at my parents, adam played so long on my mom's floor under the christmas tree alone while we were cooking that i actually had to check on him after so long of not crying. i thought maybe the dog ate him? but no, he was just happily entertaining himself under the tree. in the mornings, he wakes up in his crib and babbles, instead of wailing, and waits for us to show up. this weekend, i put him on the floor to play while i cleaned up and he decided he was tired and took a nap, right there! no crying, no "rock me, feed me, hold me!!" he just snoozed out. he just seems more content and pleased to be on his own, playing and learning about whatever is around him.
suppose he's checking out all the things in our house to eat and break when he starts crawling in a few more months?
hmmm.
