i want to remember...

dear adam, right now, you are super interested in banging things together. lids, nesting cups, your hand against hard surfaces and splashing water (soaking me during your bath). you are definitely into the way it feels to bang things together, the sound and, i think, the control of it, the fact that you're the guy making those sounds. you will sometimes hold something in place with one hand (a ball, for example) while you use the other hand to whack it repeatedly with a stick or cup.

you are very ticklish at the top of your legs, the bottoms of your feet and under your arms. you laugh and squirm when we tickle you there.

you don't like strawberries. i think they're too tart for you-- your face is priceless when i give you a spoonful. you spit them back out. and, when you're full or don't want a bite of something (more strawberries...) you suck your lips inside your mouth and clamp tight-- you're not opening for anyone. you will also push the spoon out of your face and away. you're definitely starting to assert your likes and dislikes.

you say dada and nahnah SO much. you still throw in the occasional baba, gaga, fart sound and squeal. you've also said tahtah and mama, though not nearly as often. i don't think you're saying any of this with a correlation to anything or anyone in particular.

you're pulling up on our hands so eagerly and will hardly sit once you stand. you're trying to reach up to the couch and ottoman to pull yourself up, but are still too short/little to reach the top of the cushions. you pulled yourself up on the side of the tub in your bath tonight and worried me silly. it's slippery in there, buddy! crawling is still coming along-- you try soooooo hard, but have yet to get very far.

you and otis are more and more obsessed with each other with each passing day. he's another "thing" you like to smack with your toys, and bless his heart, he just sits there lets you. he loves stealing puffs out of your hands and you like grabbing and squeezing the skin under his chin. though you seem to be pals, i don't leave you alone with him-- he is a baby too, after all.

today, in the grocery, two different people commented on how good you were. you are so smiley and happy and really go with the flow. last night i took you to dinner in dc with a big group of our friends. you played and ate and were a good boy the entire time, even though we were out far past your bedtime.

your daddy and i are very lucky and love you sooooo much!
adam, 8mos
