dear baby adam, i can hardly call you a baby anymore! :( you're growing soooo fast (can't say that enough) and in less than one month from when i write this you will be a year old. i must admit, i do feel like we're crossing a finish line. a year ago, when you were in my belly and i felt like a blimp, i had NO clue what we'd do or how we'd make it through this first year. but hey, so far, so good, right? we've all learned together and you've helped us by being the most laid back person i know of ANY age. you're pretty chill, funny, happy to be where ever you are (except alone, but i'll get to that...), sociable, not a picky eater, etc etc. so, thanks for being so great. if you want to keep that up from now until..... say, forever, that would be just perfect.
i feel like i've been updating a lot here lately, but at eleven months you are a speedy crawler and walk along the furniture or from one piece of furniture to the next, like a monkey swinging from tree to tree. i tempt you to let go and take some steps to me, but you're just not ready. you LOVE for me to hold your hands while you stand in front of me and, when i let go, intentionally fall forward into my lap. you laugh and laugh at this, missing that my idea was for you to STAND when i let go! but hey, you're having fun and i can't get enough of your giggles, so it's a win-win regardless.
you are more interactive than ever. you blow kisses, dance, imitate sounds, play peekaboo- putting a blanket over your head and popping out for us to find you, give hugs, still love to play "chase" crawling around, like to try to tickle us and wait for us to laugh and loved being tickled yourself. when you want something or want to draw attention to something (hey, the light has just come on!) you point, which is new. all these things let me know your little brain is chug chugging away and communication is important to you. i can't wait to hear what you have to say! speaking of talking, i would SWEAR you said "light" today after i said it to you. it would make sense because you are still obsessed with lights, and your mamama said she's heard you say light too. i'll be keeping my ears open to listen for it again...
you're outgrowing some of your 18 month size clothes. adam, i don't even KNOW what size comes after that but you're going to have to slow it down! i have some very cute things for you that you're not even going to be able to wear before you outgrow them, little buddy. you still eat like a champ, and people who aren't familiar with your eating habits often say things like- is he going to eat ALL that?!- when i put a plate in front of you.
i suspect lately that you are getting more teeth. you're holding your ears often and have been a little more cranky than usual. who wouldn't be getting new teeth? don't worry, i don't blame you. and, you're very happy to be with me ALL the time. but i am cherishing this time with you. everyone tells me that once you learn to walk you'll be adventuring without me and i know i'll miss the days you lifted your hands to me to pick you up or were content sitting in my lap with a toy.
next month, your grandma and grandpa and uncle lucas are coming to visit for your birthday. and courtney and john are coming for labor day weekend. we are so lucky to have so many visitors and people to love and i know we'll have a great time.
adam, buddy, we love you SO much. you're so fun and i can't wait to celebrate your birthday next month, even though it makes me sad that you're growing SO fast!
