ok, ok... we had a lot more fun this weekend than just tasting dog food for the first time.
friday was FILLED with errands before heading up to baltimore to see sarah, tim and some of their friends. tho the drive was LOOOOOOOONG (3 hours to go to ~40 miles... thanks dc), we made it and didn't have a nervous breakdown, which, at one point, i suspected we were both on the brink of.
in baltimore, tim pushed you in the stroller while we walked to city market for sushi (you had cooked fish), hand cut fries and beer (you had water, haha). you had a hard time settling down later to sleep at tim and sarah's, tho you were up about an hour later than usual. i know it was because you were in a new place, but eventually you drifted off to sleep so sarah and i could have girls only time (did we or didn't we watch twilight for the umpteenth time...? the world may never know...)
saturday morning you explored all around tim and sarah's house and were fascinated with their dog, lily. lily is 9 years old, a senior citizen compared to otis! she was very calm, didn't lick you to death like otis does, and even stood patiently while you pulled up to stand while holding onto her.
saturday afternoon, after coming home from baltimore you settled in for a nap and i left to attend a baby shower. anastasia baby sat you, and she reported that you both danced, ate lunch and had a pretty awesome time. she enjoyed you so much that she requested a back order of our next child... but if we have another baby as good as you, we're keeping him/her! :)
you are amazing me with your dancing skills lately. when you like a song, you bounce bounce bounce. or if you're standing, you bend your knees to bop up and down. when cooking, i silly dance for you, which you laugh about and imitate with your own dancing. i can't tell you how much this pleases me! your love of music makes both your dad and me so happy and you're completely adorable when you do your little dances.
you are still going through the mommy-attachment, and i fear it's getting worse. i know this is common for babies your age. you cry and follow me from room to room sometimes. other times, you're content to play alone but will burst into tears the moment you see me. i think you think it's my job in life to carry you around everywhere i go-- to the bathroom, in the shower, while cooking... all places i can't hold you! i know i shouldn't pick you up and taxi you around all day. you have to learn that you and i are separate and to have your own independence. i know this stage will pass and i will one day long for the days you wanted nothing more than to be in my arms, but i am learning right along with you how to handle these days.
