summer weekend

this was a fun weekend. with crawling added to his repetoire, adam made this weekend feel new and exciting for me-- constantly watching him to see what he's capable of!

friday, we spent most of the day here at home. it poured rain almost all day, so adam and i stayed indoors. i was able to get a lot of things done that i'd been meaning to do around the house and adam was able to explore more.

saturday, adam and i attended my friend's son's first birthday party. it was fun-- adam was the youngest baby there, but played and had fun all the same. at the birthday boy's house, there were many new toys to be played with-- but they also had the same stacking cups we have at home. and, instead of test running all the new toys, adam went straight for the same ol' cups we have at home! i couldn't believe it.... well i guess you like what you like, even at 8 months old. later, saturday afternoon, adam and i had a visit from our friend ali.

sunday, we took a long walk to run errands and get some things we needed (including some baby proofing latches and plug covers) before test running the baby pool for the first time. it has rained so much since we got it that we are only now getting to use it. it is inflatable and i got a major arm workout just using the hand pump to inflate it. whoa.

i only added a few inches of water, enough to splash around, slathered adam with sunscreen and took about a million photos. he seemed to like it a lot. and, he actually used the side of the pool to stand on his own, on his feet, for the first time. of all places... he picks the slippery pool! this was the first time getting all the way up on both feet by himself. scary. as is always the case, he played with his cups in the water too. and he was interested in the beach ball too-- a good $1 bin purchase from Target. ha.

this weekend brought some new food options for adam- he ate a few bites of birthday cake with me, of course. you can't go to a birthday party and not sample the cake! and, he had watermelon, which he loved and ate all up. he also had some baked beans with lunch-- and reminded me all afternoon why beans are called "the musical fruit!" i have never heard him fart so much! hahaha. i might give him beans more often, just for my own personal entertainment. :)

we had a lovely, relaxed weekend with lots of playing and hanging out. after all the crazyness in may, this couldn't have been a better summer weekend (unless eric was home, of course :[ ).

fun times in the pool!

banging my cup with my binky.

trying to catch this big ball.
