1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TEN

TENNNNNNNNNNN MONTHSSSSSSSSSSSSS? ok, dear baby, you have got to slow it down. mommy and daddy can't keep up! every day you are less and less our little baby and more and more our little toddler. never again will your age be in the single months!

this month, you...

-have two bottom teeth. the center two came at almost the exactly same time. all the other kids in your class at daycare have two teeth too, which is kinda funny. i feel you have others on the way, since you're chewing on your hands and toys all the time.

-have a little cold, again. we had a nice long stretch without any sniffles but now they're back. i am hoping this bout isn't too bad.

-zoom around our house on hands and knees, crawling here and there. you are finally exploring areas of our house that you used to ignore, like the dog's food, the cords and wires and steps. honestly, you're giving me scares, dude! but i love watching you learn all about your surroundings and be curious.

-definitely understand "no." you obey us MOST of the time, but definitely sometimes listen to me say no, stare at me for a minute, and then go back to what i told you not do to. :) but you're learning and listening, which is the most important part of all.

-understand and know a few other words, even though you are not talking yet. if we ask you where's otis, where's the light, where's daddy, where's mommy you look around until you find the thing we asked you to find. so it's neat to see what you've learned!

-are experiencing some mommy attachment. you want to be with me all the time, though the "intensity" of the attachment varies. there are times you don't cry at all and contentedly play alone, there are times you are ok if i am nearby but must be within your sight, and there are other times when you won't even let me hand you to your daddy without some major tears. we think this is because you spend most of your time with me, since daddy's at work more. but this behavior is common in most babies your age and we know it will pass soon.

-haven't figured out that you can crawl backwards and sometimes get stuck in places you can't fit, which cracks me up!

-have walked, ever so slowly, along the furniture, but don't let go to stand without holding on just yet. you pull to stand on anything you can... the open dishwasher, our bed, the dining room chairs, the front door, the dog, etc.

-eat, eat, eat. we're slowly dropping you back to 2 bottles a day because you EAT so much food. we make sure you eat healthy foods though, and you love almost everything we give you. i think your favorite foods are broccoli, bread and bananas.

-threw your first temper tantrum. you literally threw yourself down in your pack n play (i put you there so i could finish getting ready for work and not worry about you eating doggie food or falling on our stairs...) and you threw yourself on your belly and screamed. needless to say, you're very expressive and have no problem letting us know when you're mad! BUT- you also let us know when you're happy by giving endless smiles and giggles, which melt our hearts, of course.

-have stopped napping at daycare :( this makes for a CRANKY evening sometimes. you never napped in this classroom (since 6 months) very well, but lately you've completely given it up. you still nap at least 2-3 hours a day when at home with me though, where life is likely a little more peaceful than a classroom with 7 other babies!

-play "chase" with me around the house. you let us chase you, looking back to make sure we're still following. if you stop, and we "get" you, you laugh and laugh. then, if we crawl away, you chase us around. it's so fun to play, plus it's neat to see you get the concept of the game. already such a little boy!

adam, there just aren't words for us to explain how much joy and love you bring into our lives. you are such a little blessing, bringing smiles to our faces daily and to the faces of everyone you meet! everyone comments on what a good natured boy you are, so easy going and happy to be alive. i love you so much and can't believe in just a couple months you'll already be a year old!
