rachel and me having fun at artscape
adam having fun at artscapethis weekend, adam joined our friend rachel and me at artscape in baltimore. we had sooooooo much fun. slathered in sunscreen, adam was such a peace-cake all day! he never made a sound unless he was laughing, babbling or clapping. he was probably so entertained... there were a TON (350,000) of people and so many cool things to see. he especially loved the street performer, and i was shocked to see him so interested in watching the juggling guy with curiosity.
the weather was gorgeous today, so we took a walk to the grocery store to pick up a couple items i needed. but it continued to be so nice into the evening, i felt it was a shame to be indoors! so, about an hour before bedtime, after he'd already had dinner, i took adam to the park for his first time. unbelievably, the momarazzi forgot her camera (AND blackberry!), so there are no photos of adam swinging for the first time. but believe me, he had a huge, cutie grin as he took swung back and forth and checked out the bigger kids in the sand box and the planes flying overhead.
adam continues to expand his diet and i don't know if it's him or us, but who/what ever has made him be so easygoing with food i am grateful! some foods lately: bbq grilled chicken, broccoli, watermelon, whole wheat blueberry waffles, yogurt, kiwi, mango, pasta with pesto, peas, bread, rice, beef with enchilada sauce, shredded cheese, mandarin oranges, pears... the list goes on. he LOVES food. ALL food.
adam sings and claps his hands, he is getting braver with standing, letting go briefly or holding on with one hand. he babbles like he has his own language and has something very, very important to say. he makes me smile all day. he is VERY ticklish, especially under his arms, on his feet and the tops of his legs. he's obsessed with petting (hitting) our dog's face, but doesn't like it if the dog licks his face in return. we are so lucky that the dog is so easy going with him. adam has another tooth coming in on top, i can see the white poking through, though it hasn't come in completely.
this weekend we went sippy-cup cold turkey. we've been "working" (half-heartedly) at sippys. but this weekend i tried several different kinds and found a few that work. i am pleased to report he didn't have a single bottle all weekend. yay!
on friday, adam and i went to buy buy baby to get his new, big boy car seat. they didn't have the color we wanted in our brand/style, so it's being shipped to our house this week. i really hope it comes sooner rather than later b/c adam's infant seat is SO snug, it can't be comfortable anymore (or safe? bad mommy!). i'd never been in buy buy baby before-- wow! i LOVED it and am converted. no more babies r us for the ciucas... this store rocked! the selection was amazing, they had so much more stuff and better brands. (i also used about 400 bed bath and beyond 20% off coupons there, now that i know they accept them!) i loved all their baby clothes... but was SUPER sad when NONE of them would fit adam! he's too big...! what happened to my little baby??? and it was also sad seeing all the 2 and 4 week babies in there, all with their mommies on maternity leave, trying out the baby carriers, etc. they were SOOO tiny. hard to believe that adam was that small at one point. but then we went next door to trader joe's and shared food samples while i grocery shopped, and i counted my blessings that adam is down to 2 or 3 bottles/day and can share sausage/peppers and mango samples with me.
newborn no more! :)
